Welcome to the dedicated page for my garden birds and there antics.
Well after noticing the Sparrow fledgelings this morning was surprised to see two Collared dove fledgelings this afternoon. It has been a dreadful day weather wise so the little uns have been for the most part under cover as the rain was terrible which in turn has hampered my opportunity for decent pictures as you can imagine it was pretty dull, and for some reason my camera does not handle well in dull light despite the best of settings, so I was mighty disappointed. I didn't help having to take pics through poor quality glass from within the shed but I managed a few and we will see what tomorrow brings.
I did notice though that there seems to be two lots of Sparrow fledge and it looks like there may be about a week or so difference as one lot stayed in the bush being fed by parents and the others venturing out to the feeders and managing to pick up seed for themselves from the ground.
Last year it was July before we saw any young from any of the sparrows or other Birds here and they went on to have two lots it was a really good show I loved every moment watching them play and grow.
Of course there are more to look forward to like the Robin, Dunnock, Blackbirds, Jack Daws Great Tit and Blue Tit, we may even see a Nuthatch and wood Pigeons.
Well there is no let up in the weather and it;s keeping them all under cover for much of the time.
I have had a few Blackbirds bathing and a few Jackdaws fighting. I took a brief walk along the River, a few Mallards and some sparrow fledgeling and a resident squirrel behind the flats.
A few days ago my Hubby spotted 4 Lesser Redpoll in the garden at 6.30 am needless to say I was still in the land of nod so I missed the opportunity for a picture. I have been up at the crack of dawn every day since but no show so far, but watch this space.
In the mean time I have the pleasure of watching the antics of some of the other visitors.
Starling.
